  • The Foundation Center
    Maintains a comprehensive and up-to-date database for foundations and corporate giving programs. Under Grantmaker Resources you will find a variety of information including Funding Trends. A link on this website, Foundation Finder, gives you access to a free look-up service based on the Center's publishing database which is supposedly updated at least once a month. This site presents information on over 50,000 private and community foundations in the United States, including direct links to foundation Web sites. While this section is free, other sections may need a subscription.

    • FedBizOpps
    • Community of Science - Funding Opportunities
      A collaborative network of scientists and their institutions, this site is a comprehensive source of grant information available on the Web. Some areas need a subscription. From the Community of Science, you can also go to Federally funded research. This section includes funding information from the following: NIH, NSF, USDA , SBIR, and MRC (The Medical Research Council, UK).
    • Grants.gov
      "Grants.gov FIND is modeled after FedBizOpps, an Internet site established by the General Services Administration, as the single site for posting notices and other relevant information regarding procurement opportunities. As implemented, Grants.gov FIND will serve as the primary site where Federal agencies will post electronic synopses of opportunities for financial assistance awards."
    • The Grantsmantship Center (TGCI)
      This site gives the most current Grant Information available in the Federal Register.
    • NSF Funding Opportunities & Awards
      The NSF funds research and education in science and engineering, through grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. The Foundation accounts for about 20 percent of federal support to academic institutions for basic research.
    • ResearchLite
      A database which includes every funding opportunity from the NIH, NSF and another 60+ Federal agencies in the US.

    These are nonprofit, tax-exempt, publicly-supported grantmaking organizations. These foundations are public charities, since they develop broad support from many unrelated donors with a wide range of charitable interests in a specific community.
